GRS Group Receives Freddie Mac Multifamily Green Advantage Approval

GRS Group is pleased to announce that it has received approval to perform the Freddie Mac Multifamily Green AssessmentSM. This approval, from Freddie Mac, comes after a significant, months-long screening process and a rigorous review of GRS Group’s qualifications and performance standards.

Announced in August 2016, the Freddie Mac Multifamily Green AdvantageSM program is designed to make America’s rental housing more resource-efficient. The Green AssessmentSM, performed by GRS | Corteq professionals, is a highly specialized property analysis created to identify energy and water savings opportunities. 

Whether energy-saving improvements are planned for a new acquisition or refinance—or if the property is already green certified—the Freddie Mac Multifamily Green Advantage program allows eligible borrowers to qualify for better pricing and higher loan proceeds. 

There are two types of assessments now offered by GRS | Corteq as part of the program:

1. The Green AssessmentSM is a straightforward property analysis the shows borrowers how they can save energy or water by making property improvements.  Freddie Mac then reimburses up to $3,500 of the cost of the report when the borrower closes a loan with Freddie Mac.

2.  The Green Assessment PlusSM is a highly-detailed property analysis based on an ASHRAE level 2 energy audit.  Freddie Mac reimburses up to $3,500 of the cost of this report as well, provided the borrower closes a loan with Freddie Mac.

After a Green Assessment is completed, borrowers who then commit to reducing energy or water by at least 15 percent receive better pricing along with more funding to make these improvements. This, in turn, helps rental households to better manage their utility costs.
